PLANETS, MOONS, STAR WARS™ – May 1, 2026, 7PM Scranton Cultural Center, Scranton


Accompanied by the Choral Society of Northeastern Pennsylvania, the Philharmonic performs Holst’s epic work, The Planets, alongside the powerful Moons Choral Suite by Amanda Lee Falkenberg, with the Marywood University Concert Choir. Join the adventure in a program also featuring iconic selections from Star Wars™.

The centre musical piece of the 2024 Breaking Barriers theme at Ravinia was a double-bill concert featuring Gustav Holst’s "The Planets" and Amanda Lee Falkenberg’s "The Moons Symphonic Suite."

This concert main event on July 26, 2024 used Holst’s "The Planets" to musically explore the iconic astrological figures, followed by "The Moons Symphonic Suite," which focuses on seven major moons of our solar system and was performed with immersive on-screen visual sequences.

London Symphony Orchestra

The Moons Symphony" was recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Marin Alsop. The recording took place primarily at LSO St Luke’s, London, in May 2022.

Additionally, choral forces were recorded by the London Voices at the renowned Abbey Road Studios in London
